The Bulgari Emerald Pendant Brooch sold last December at Christies Auction House for an amazing $6,578,500 (£4.15 million). The beautiful green emerald centre stone weighs 23.46 in carat weight making each carat worth $280,000 (176,634) per carat.

The rectangular shaped emerald stone originates from Columbia and was beautifully made into a brooch. The emerald is surrounded by pear shaped diamonds, each beautifully arranged to create this unique brooch. The brooch has a rich heritage as it was part of Elizabeth Taylor’s fine collection of jewels, given to her in 1962 by Richard Burton to celebrate their engagement.

This sapphire and diamond brooch was sold at auction last may for $7,122,742 (£4.5 million) at Christies in Geneva.  The centre deep blue sapphire stone weighs an amazing 130.50 carats and is beautifully cut into a cushion shaped stone. The striking sapphire stone is surrounded by elegant rose cut and round cut diamonds.
